Spirit Lactation further aids digestion through supplementation with the natural digestive enzymes lipase, protease and amylase. These enzymes, produced endogenously by the pancreas and intestinal microbes, hydrolyze fats, proteins and carbohydrates, respectively. Feed nutrients are converted into their biologically vital constituents, available for absorption. This enzymatic boost to digestion allows the animal to digest and absorb more nutrients from the same amount of feed. Systems and processes such as immunity, growth, reproductive success and fertility cannot help but be positively influenced by increased nutrient availability.



DHA and EPA
The essential fatty acids DOCOSAHEXAENOIC ACID (DHA, 22:6(N-3) and EICOSAPENTAENOIC ACID (EPA, 20:5(N-3) have unique and critical roles in animal health. They are required for optimal development and maturation of the brain, nervous system and visual system. These essential fatty acids are also required for efficient red blood cell performance, and may influence ion or solute transport. There is also evidence that DHA and EPA inhibit tumor growth. Deficits of DHA and EPA have been shown to result in developmental abnormalities, abhorrent behavior, visual impairment, and a wide variety of other symptoms. DHA and EPA have been proven to exert widespread immunomodulatory effects. Leukocytes, prostaglandins, lymphocytes, and Natural Killer cell activity have all been shown to respond to DHA and EPA supplementation in the diet.



Phosphatidylserine (PS) and phosphatidylcholine (PC)
Spirit Lactation also provides supplemental phosphatidylserine (PS) and phosphatidylcholine (PC). These naturally occurring phospholipids are critical to maintaining function of the brain and nervous system. PS and PC are also required to sustain cellular membrane fluidity and reduce cellular stress. Animals often experience a loss of production when subjected to environmental stresses, such as transport or a change in feed. PS and PC lessen the physiological impact of stress and help to maintain production levels.



Isofavonoids
Spirit Lactation contains the most concentrated natural sources of the xenobiotic compounds known as isoflavonoids. These polyphenolic molecules have been proven to have beneficial effects on a wide variety of biological systems and activities, including protection of the cardiovascular system, increasing enzyme and protein synthesis, increasing cell proliferation and differentiation, and stimulation of the immune system. Recent evidence suggests a role in increasing the quality and quantity of milk production.



Vitamins and minerals

Yeast-extracts
Spirit Lactation contains yeast-extracts. The importance of feeding yeast-extracts is welknown. The normal intestinal flora (good bacteria) found in the gastrointestinal tract need to constantly be replaced and therefore they need to multiply. The yeast protein found in the Spirit products are a tremendous substrate for cell division. In otherwords, they optimize the function of the normal flora in the animal. As a result you optimize digestion of the animal and consequently its performance. On top of this, yeast derived protein also allows for excellent regeneration of the intestinal mucosa which enhances absorption of other key ingredients found within the Spirit lactation product. Nucleotides will also act as metabolic cofactors which allow cells of the animal to function better. This results in a BETTER PERFORMANCE and a healthier animal.



Metal Amino Acid Chelate (MAAC®)
Mixing inorganic minerals or mineral salts into feed, no matter how well formulated the product or how high the mineral levels, is ineffective if those minerals are not available for the animal’s body to use. Spirit Lactation contains patented Metal Amino Acid Chelate (MAAC®) technology. MAAC®s are minerals, such as zinc, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese and cobalt, which are surrounded by and covalently bonded to amino acids (chelated). The bioavailability of MAAC® minerals is higher than that of inorganic minerals since the molecules are small enough to pass through the intestinal wall as part of digestion. The body selectively absorbs amino acids, and in this process the minerals are ‘smuggled’ into the bloodstream. Intestinal absorption of these molecules is 1.8 to 5.8 times better than for the inorganic mineral salts commonly used as feed supplements. MAAC®s are stable in the harsh environment of the intestine, and are not rendered ineffective by degradation.

Why Albion MAAC®
Albion chelates are used in Spirit Lactation because they are made to fit the definition of chelation most like the body’s own method. Most importantly, they have no electrical charge, and therefore will not interact with other dietary components. Albion Zinc is guaranteed to have stability when subjected to the various pH levels found in the digestive tract (2.0 –7,5). Albion chelates are stable and remain intact throughout digestion.
